Purpose of the CEHTP Outreach & Training activities

To increase knowledge/awareness of and interest in environmental health tracking; identify and foster partnerships; and build environmental health tracking capacity.

Outreach & Training Objectives

Conduct outreach and training during the planning stages of an Environmental Health Tracking Network:

Continue to educate key stakeholders on the benefits, limitations, and uses of environmental health tracking.

Continue to build support/constituency for environmental health tracking.

Determine priority areas for training.

Conduct training for priority areas.

Develop recommendations for outreach and training after the launch of an Environmental Health Tracking Network:

Identify formats (including visualization and analysis) in which to present environmental health tracking information.

Identify communication needs in disseminating environmental health tracking information.

Identify key risk communication needs.

Identify technical assistance issues related to accessing and analyzing environmental health tracking information.

Identify training activities to support stakeholders in accessing, understanding, and utilizing environmental health tracking information.

Outreach & Training Timeline

Develop a list possible outreach and training activities based on: needs assessment findings, current program activities, and SB702 Expert Working Group recommendations.

June 2004

Review key messages/products for outreach and develop new messages/products as needed.

July

Conduct targeted outreach to key stakeholders (in addition to on-going general outreach activities).

Prioritize outreach and training activities and target audiences.

August

Develop strategies for training: design training materials; determine trainers/presenters; select locations; etc.

Sept-Oct

Organize/coordinate training.

Market training opportunities.

Conduct training.

Utilize lessons learned from outreach and training activities and findings from the needs assessment to develop recommendations for long-term outreach and training (i.e. priorities for outreach and training once an Environmental Health Tracking Network is launched).
